Notice
Welcome to Capricorn season!
If things are feeling stricter, more serious and less adventurous, you’re not imagining it.
With the Sun moving into the high achieving and strongest manifestor sign of Capricorn, you may be feeling the pressure to make big goals and plans for 2026.
Everywhere you look people are telling you now is the time to set intentions, make resolutions or vision boards so you can crush your goals for the new year. The pressure is real!
But I invite you take a pause from this.
At least until you take the time to really notice how this season is feeling to you.
Then, once you’ve grounded in the season, the invitation and the quality of time, you can make more aligned choices for your new year.
We’ve spent the last month galavanting through Sagittarius season filled with optimism, high hopes and truth-seeking adventures.
From Sagittarius to Capricorn: Why This Shift Feels So Intense
You may have been ideating and getting excited for the new year. The Sagittarius Sun was expanding your horizons and beliefs as you went through this last season. But now you may be feeling the colder, harder truth that exists beyond day dreaming—actual work and earthly tasks.
This shift into going by the book and a more structured way of living can feel jarring and unsettling.
How the Energy of This Season Shows Up in Real Life
I’ve been feeling the pressures that come with the end of the year holidays and a brand new year too—in my life and my business. As much as I love to set intentions and make lists and plans for my next projects, Capricorn season always feel heavy and limiting to me.
The shift at this time of year can pose discomfort to strong fire signs and those who are more mutable in their ways. Notice which side of the spectrum you are landing on.
Does the shift from Mutable Fire (Sagittarius) to Cardinal Earth (Capricorn) feel new and exciting or stifling and burdensome?
ALIGN: The Energetics Behind This Season
This year’s Cardinal Earth season brings with it a combust Venus and Mars nearing their cazimis as the Sun makes its way through the diligent and focused sign of Capricorn.
Mars Combust → Cazimi: The Slow Burn of Drive
Mars, who is in his favorite sign of Capricorn, will be working behind the scenes lighting fires, sparking bits of inspiration and preparing for the big day of the cazimi on January 9, 2026.
A combust Mars means that your drive and inner initiative will be more difficult to access at this time. This has been going on since early November 2025!
When the Mars is cazimi on January 9th, 2026, this energy shifts into impulsive action and making shit happen.
Venus Combust → Cazimi: Quiet Restoration of Balance
Venus, feeling industrious and incognito in her Capricorn costume, is quietly conspiring with the Sun and making lists to inspire balance and beauty in your creations this year. All of which begin to surface on January 6th.
Venus’ combustion energy has been with us since the end of November, making it difficult to relate and bring things into balance. However, she is harmonizing behind the scenes and when she’s cazimini on January 6th, 2026, things will finally feel like they are falling into place and feeling softer.
Working With Capricorn Energy: Structure, Conservation, and Systems
Capricorn season will feel like a few weeks of sluggishness and being out of balance during a time when you usually feel inspired and ready to go. This is typical for this type of energy in the skies.
I tend to look for ways to conserve my energy by batch cooking meals or batching similar tasks in short work bursts.
When I am entering a season of the need to conserve my energy, such as my monthly cycle, or beginning/end of school year activities, I lean into systems and structure when the world gets chaotic.
Let whatever discomfort or restlessness you’re feeling right now be a signal, not a problem.
Where can you conserve your energy to focus the energy that you do have for the things that are most important this season?
Craft
Your Crafted focus for Capricorn Season:
Create a single container—physical or digital—that will help organize a part of your life.
This can become the scaffolding that you structure your big goals from and makes your life 10% easier.
These systems can be as simple as making a double batch of a meal two or three times a week so I don’t have to cook everyday, or blocking out rest time in the evenings where I can replenish with a bath or a ritual.
These are systems that I’ve set up over years of testing and implementation in order to maximize the time that I do have to spend.
Why Creating Space (Not Output) Is the Most Capricorn Practice
The key to enjoying this period is to create, Capricorn’s best quality. It’s not about creating something physical outside of you, but creating space within.
This season invites us to make space for new manifestations, inside and out.
When I experienced my Solar Return in July, I anticipated this time of the year as a time of shifting and re-working old structures. So, I gave myself a month off from my business to focus on revamping my home and family systems that need some love.
While this is a big task, with many different pieces, I’ve broken it down into manageable chunks that will feel fulfilling, even if I don’t get to them all this season.
My Seasonal Focus: Building a Family Grimoire
The one thing I wish to complete during this season is a lovely grimoire, or family guidebook.
This looks like a disc bound, customizable hand-crafted book that holds family wisdom and knowledge in. I plan to create a leather cover and design all the pages to be modular and easily printable to refill when needed.
To start, I will be putting a:
- Chore tracker: a way to plan and manage the family’s daily and weekly chores so that I don’t have to store it in my brain.
- Seasonal Guide: a place to keep track of the family’s activities and senses of goings on so we can make more aligned decisions for the following year’s seasons.
- Movie list: we don’t spend a lot of time in front of the tube (we don’t even have one!) so we always make a running list (that I’m supposed to remember, apparently,) of movies we want to watch together.
- Annual overview calendar pages: so that we can each add things to remember, even though we use a digital calendar to manage our schedules.
- Meals: favorite recipes, notes, alterations and reviews of the meals
- Scrapbook-style pages for documenting our lived experiences on paper when feeling creative
- Perpetual project list: a running list of ideas that I intend to do for the home or family
Taking all of the wisdom out of my brain and putting it into a physical binder is something that I can add to daily, weekly, monthly or seasonally. It will create space in my brain and give my family a guide to our family’s systems. It will also save time from the deluge of questions I get when they pitch in with making dinners or other family needs.
A family legacy—the perfect Capricornian project.
It’s one simple step toward organizing my family systems so that I have more space in my schedule and time to focus on the people I love and the things I love to do.
What’s one simple step you can take during this very specific quality of time to make your everyday 10% easier next year?

🌑🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑
Capricorn Season Lunations
(Full Catalog + Interpretations)
The full moon occurs before the new moon again this season. This means that we get to see the manifestations and meaning before we’ve even planted the seeds. (All times mountain)
🌓 First Quarter Moon in Aries
Slow Spark Under the Surface | 12/27/25 12:09p 6° Aries
Mars, is feeling like the rumbling of a volcano about to erupt. The power is there, under the surface, but we can’t see it right now. Since his drive, assertion and leadership is obscured, we don’t have access to his energy at this lunation.
Without the assertive force of Mars’ help, this week’s energy may feel flat or not as helpful.
If you’re feeling the urge to start, but unable to ignite the spark, you’re exactly where you should be.
🌕 Full Moon in Cancer
Emotional Repair + Nurturing | 1/03/26 3:02a 13º Cancer
The Cancer full moon invites us to see where we need more self care for our neglected parts and layers of wounds that are ready to be healed. You’ll definitely feel this one, as Jupiter will be amplifying the feels for you.
The quality of this time is reflective, not for doing. Each of the planets in retrograde are giving you the opportunity to take a pause and review, rethink and revise.
This is an opportunity to notice what’s going on in your body as you feel through it. Notice what feels tense, stuck or tight. Notice the quality of your current vibe. Notice where you are being invited to soften and nurture a part of you that often gets neglected.
🌗 Last Quarter Moon in Libra
Release + Rebalancing | 1/10/26 8:48a 20° Libra
This is a powerful lunation full of maturity and expansion.
The moon’s light is waning this week. The perfect time to begin to declutter, clear and release the things that have been weighing you down.
Check in with the Moon this week and perform a release ritual. You can make it as simple or extravagant as you like. Venus is ruling this lunation after all! Allow her to inspire you to add touches of beauty or create a more balanced altar.
🌑 New Moon in Capricorn
Clearing Structures & Rewriting Systems | 1/18/26 12:51p 29° Capricorn
The Capricorn new moon begins a new cycle that infuses rebellious Aquarian energy to dissolve old structures and systems that we erected to survive, and no longer need for this next phase of our life.
Take notice of what feels tired in your systems and structures of life, and what’s wishing for a breakthrough or influx of rebellious energy.
The Sun and Moon’s conversation is ruled by Saturn. They are also in a conversation with Saturn/Neptune that feels like an opportunity for dissolving and re-clarifying boundaries or structures already in place.
A simple check in with the moon this week looks like taking the time to feel into the quality of time before the New Moon mid-day on the 18th. Then feel what it feels like when they are both in Aquarius after 7pm on the 19th.
