Every year, on your birthday, your energy resets. Here’s what that means.
I’ve often wondered why I have the most energy between the months of September and January when the rest of the world seems to be on a different schedule.
What’s happening is that my summer birthday (solar return) is causing the energy to ramp up similarly to the waxing moon’s energy. Beginning of January when everyone else is sleepy and chill, I am ready to shout things from the rooftops.
The amount of activity increases at this time due to kids being in school again, more school functions and then of course, the ‘end of year’ celebrations between, home, work and school.
It’s quite the overwhelming time. Most people want to just rest after all the hullabaloo and sink into quiet in the first month of the year.
Not me.
I am the most productive and creative during these months. So not only are there more events to attend, but my creative output is the highest of the entire year.
This is not by accident.
January is my summer time. (I’ve often wondered if I lived in the Southern Hemisphere if I would feel more ‘in sync’ with the world.
So what is a Solar Return, exactly?
A Solar Return is the day that the Sun returns to the same place that it was in the sky when you took your first breath—your birthday.
This is essentially the same quality of time as the New Moon. You get a fresh burst of energy from the Sun and that light grows with you through your year. Then it wanes, just like the moon does, at the halfway point.
Each year, you get to experience a different quality of time because all the other planets are in different positions and that extra layer adds the variety or ‘spice of life!’
Some years feel like a slog and others feel like you took a lucky potion.
The quality of time of each year varies, but your energy follows the same pattern.
Your year has four quarters—they’re not what you think.
The rise and fall of your energy is the same as each monthly cycle of the moon. You get 4 quarters of energy. The first is similar to how the 1st of January is supposed to feel.
Big goals and dreams, resolutions and setting your intentions—New Moon and planting seeds energy.
But if you’re not born around the 1st of the calendar year, you may feel out of sync. If setting goals around January 1st feels off, it’s probably because you already sense that your cycle is running from a different starting point than the calendar.
The next 3 quarters of your solar year align with the energy of the moon’s quarters.
Second quarter (3 months after your birthday) = spring time or first quarter moon energy. Third quarter (6 months after your birthday) = summer time or full moon energy. And your fourth quarter = fall or last quarter moon energy.
Have you ever wondered why all of a sudden you have more energy to create, get out and engage with life 3 months after your birthday? This is because your personal new year begins on your birthday. Not on January 1st.
What happens when you stop following someone else’s calendar.
When you begin to follow your personal energy, instead of the energy of the dictated calendar, time feels different.
You begin to feel like you have more control over your time, and not chasing after time that feels elusive.
You stop fighting January and begin trusting July. You are more creative. You prioritize rest when it’s appropriate.
You feel more aligned to your inner clock.
If you’ve ever wanted a map for your year that shows you when to push and when to rest, that’s exactly what Connect With Your Year is.
Your solar year has its own quality of time.
If your birthday is approaching, this is the moment to get oriented before the year gets away from you.
Connect With Your Year is a three-hour, one-on-one Solar Return orientation. A map of your year’s rhythms is built around your chart before we meet.
One spot per season.
