When I first intentionally started studying astrology in 2020, I had no idea that it could help me in my healing journey. I knew that it could help me predict challenging times coming up, or help me understand why I be the way I be, but that was all I expected.
And then I was introduced to a little asteroid called Chiron. Let the healing begin!
What’s it about Chiron the Wounded Healer?
This heavenly body, discovered in 1977, has been classified and reclassified a couple of times, similarly to our friendly dwarf planet Pluto. I think at this point we are close to defining him as a dwarf planet. He orbits the Sun in the space between the asteroid belt and the Kuiper Belt just beyond Saturn.
What I’ve learned about Chiron has changed the way I relate to my past and how I handle negative self talk and my pity parties now.
The myth of Chiron is about a warrior Centaur who was injured in battle and traversed the Universe seeking a method to heal his wounds. Over the course of his journeys, he met many healers and learned all sorts of healing modalities. But he could never fully heal himself, he could only heal others.
This is what this placement in our charts represents—the core wound that we will not be able to fully heal, but can help others heal in themselves.
Chiron takes about 50 years to go around the Sun and throughout the entire zodiac, so we each get to experience the return to its natal position around 50 years old. But we also get to experience the healing in each house of our chart he goes through during our lifetimes.
How to understand your Chiron wound
Right now, Chiron is in Aries. There are quite a few Gen Xers that are currently experiencing their Chiron returns. (A return is basically when the planet returns to its location at the time of your birth and signals a time of new beginnings for the next cycle. It’s got the energy of a New Moon!) And since the wound is in Aries, it is a wound of self or ego.
Each sign carries a different flavor of wounding that results in a variety of ways that a person can behave and live life from. There are many interpretations online of each sign’s “wound” in Chiron, but my favorite can be found at Tea and Rosemary-Chiron in the Houses. Calculate your Chiron at astro.com and then find out which house he was in.
Look at the degree of Chiron in your birth chart to understand when your core wound happened in your life. The sign in which Chiron is in shows you what you are here to heal, and the house shows where you are to heal it, and where it shows up most.
While you may not be able to fully heal this wound, being aware and helping others heal similar wounds will result in more healing for all. My wound happens to be in Taurus, so values and worth play a huge part in my wound. It’s really no wonder why I am drawn to help people with their healing journeys.

Chiron in Aries for Healing the Collective
All this is to say that Chiron is working healing magic right now as it conjuncts (is at the same degree of Aries and thus the energies are conjoined,) the North Node in Aries at 16º. This is a once in a lifetime event and I encourage you to embrace this magic on your healing journey.
The North Node, just a point in the sky and not an actual planet, represents what we reach for in our lifetimes. Some call it destiny and others call it an evolution. Whatever feels right to you when you think of what you are rising up to in this lifetime works.
Since Aries is the “Me” sign, the combined energies are challenging us, as a collective, to heal our ideas of how we relate as “I” in this big beautiful mess of life. I expect that there will be a lot of healing for those that are already on their healing journeys and maybe some discomfort for those who have yet to become aware of their wounds.
Stay compassionate and open hearted as we go through this week together. You never know what people are actually going through right now, in addition to the collective crap we are all witnessing in other parts of the world.
Using Astrology to heal
Not only have I become aware of my core wound AND witnessed myself being triggered and the resultant reaction, I have begun to evaluate other parts of my chart that indicate shadows that need to be brought to light and integrated.
I feel like becoming aware of the wound, how and where it shows up has changed my life. This is the beauty of astrology. And as I make my way on this path of helping others heal using astrology, I will keep sharing what I learn about myself and how the energies show up in other people’s lives.
I truly believe that the healing power of astrology can help you too.
